Corporate Job

Lesson #1 – Managing Busyness for Well-being
Distinguish between activities that fill time and those that fill your soul.
The echoes of a work-centric lifestyle lingered even after the exit from the corporate realm. As a habitual busy bee, the void left by the absence of a demanding job was initially filled with a flurry of chores and tasks.
Yet, in the midst of ticking off to-do lists, a realization unfolded—I was still feeling drained.
The compulsive need to stay busy had become a coping mechanism, a way to mask the underlying emptiness left by the departure from a 9-5 routine.
Laundry, cleaning, and constant activity formed the backdrop of my days, but their impact was far from restorative. A shift was imperative.
Recognizing the need for a recalibration, I learned to discern between tasks that merely occupied time and those that contributed to mental and physical restoration.
The daily grind transformed from a flurry of draining chores to purposeful activities like organizing my closet, embracing outdoor walks, and rejuvenating gym sessions.
The lesson learned, distinguish between activities that fill time and those that fill your soul – embrace intentional busyness. The journey is not about staying busy; it’s about engaging in activities that contribute positively to your mental and physical well-being.

Lesson #2 – Identity Beyond the Job Title
Embrace the freedom to define yourself beyond the constraints of a job title
In the intricate dance of post-corporate life, the realization struck hard— I am not my job title.
As conversations with friends shifted from the familiar “how’s work going?” to the more daunting “what do you do for work?” a new chapter of self-discovery began.
The once proud proclamation of being a CPA and conquering the challenges of a finance role became a nuanced narrative.
The void left by the absence of a job title sparked internal debates on how much detail to share. Do I unravel the layers, revealing the loss of my father, the mental struggles, or the persistent battle with undiagnosed debilitating pain?
Navigating these conversations became a delicate balance between transparency and the fear of judgment. The struggle to redefine my identity, detached from a job description, echoed in these moments of self-reflection.
The lesson learned, embrace the freedom to define yourself beyond the constraints of a job title. Recognize that your worth is not tied to your professional career but is made up of diverse threads beyond professional achievements.
Lesson #3 – Prioritizing Physical and Mental Health
Listen to your body
In the whirlwind of corporate demands and the relentless pursuit of career milestones, the toll on both physical and mental health became undeniable.
The persistent pain, long hours and the pressures of a demanding job, served as a reminder— my well-being had been relegated to the shadows and I lost my sense of work-life balance.

Reflecting on my journey, I recognized the profound impact of unaddressed health concerns on my overall well-being. The debilitating pelvic pain, initially dismissed as a byproduct of stress, emerged as a symbol of a deeper struggle — an urgent need to prioritize my health.
The lesson learned, listen to your body. Prioritize your physical and mental health amidst the demands of career and life. Seek professional help, explore holistic approaches, and recognize that well-being is not negotiable—it’s an integral part of a fulfilling life.
Lesson #4 – Supportive Network
Cultivate and cherish your support network
As I navigated the unfamiliar waters of post-corporate life, the importance of a supportive network became crystal clear. Leaving the security of a corporate job wasn’t just a career shift; it was a reassessment of personal connections.
From the challenging months of witnessing a loved one’s decline to the relentless pursuit of professional goals, my journey resonated with a symphony of shared experiences.
Friends, family, and colleagues transformed into pillars of strength during uncertain times. Opening up about struggles and decisions, I found comfort and encouragement from those who genuinely cared.
Colleagues-turned-friends continued to check in, offering insights and reminding me of the resilience within. The network that once thrived in the corporate world extended beyond those boundaries, proving to be invaluable in the journey toward self-discovery.
The lesson learned, cultivate and cherish your support network. In times of transition, having individuals who understand your journey can provide profound strength.
Share your struggles, seek guidance, and lean on those who genuinely care. A robust support system is more than a safety net; it’s a wellspring of inspiration and resilience.
Lesson #5 – Exploring Creative Ventures
Embrace and explore your creative side
In the world of corporate responsibilities, creativity often takes a back seat.
While corporate settings are great for professional growth, they can sometimes dampen the sparks of imagination and innovation. Leaving the corporate environment, for me, was a chance to rediscover the vibrant colors of creativity that had been dormant for too long.
As a child, creativity was a big part of who I was, but the corporate journey somewhat overshadowed this aspect of self-expression. Stepping away from that world wasn’t just a break from the typical career path; it was an opportunity to explore uncharted creative territories.
Amid the challenges of joblessness and the search for new career paths, the pursuit of creativity became a guiding force. Whether through artistic endeavors, writing blog posts, or exploring entrepreneurial ventures, the landscape of creative possibilities broadened.
This exploration wasn’t just a break from the routine; it was a reconnection with a fundamental part of my identity.
The lesson learned, embrace and explore your creative side. The journey post-corporate life is more than just about career shifts; it’s a chance to reignite the flames of creativity. It’s not just a leisurely pursuit; it’s a vital component of a fulfilling life.
Transitioning away from the familiar routine wasn’t just a job change; it was a deliberate choice to take control of my life. Beyond that structured world, I discovered a canvas where I could craft a narrative centered on well-being, creativity, and personal growth.
While these lessons are deeply personal, they hold universal truths.
Realizing that my identity stretches beyond a job title has been a game-changer.
Balancing the demands of a busy life with overall well-being emphasized the importance of intentional living.
Putting physical and mental health first highlighted that professional success loses its shine without good health.
Having a supportive network, whether from family, friends, or professional connections, became a lifeline during moments of uncertainty.
Engaging in creative pursuits wasn’t just a pastime but a vital journey back to a core part of who I am.
The journey after leaving a corporate job is more than finding a new career; it’s about discovering a fulfilling and meaningful life.
